How Much Does a Website Cost in Gippsland in 2026?

A clear, honest breakdown of website pricing for Gippsland small businesses - from $500 builders through to fully custom sites. What you actually get at each price point.

"How much does a website cost?" is the most-asked question we get. The honest answer is it depends - but that's an unhelpful answer, so here's the real one.

This guide breaks down what websites actually cost in Gippsland in 2026, what you get at each price point, and the traps to watch out for.

The short version

Most small-business websites in Gippsland will cost somewhere between $1,000 and $3,500 for the build, plus $30-$60 per month in hosting and ongoing costs. Larger custom builds start from $5,000+. Everything outside that range either has too little in it (cheap templates, locked-in subscriptions) or too much in it (large e-commerce, custom integrations, multi-location enterprise builds).

If you want the indicative pricing, our pricing page lays it out tier by tier.

The rest of this article is the why - what drives the price, where corners get cut, and how to make sure you're paying for value rather than fluff.

Why prices vary so much

A website price depends on five main things:

  1. Number of pages. A 5-page brochure site is fundamentally less work than a 50-page service-and-portfolio site. Most small Gippsland businesses need 8-15 pages.
  2. Custom design vs template. A bespoke design takes longer than dropping content into a template. It also lasts longer and represents your brand better.
  3. Functionality. A contact form is free. A booking system, online shop, members area or events calendar each adds real cost.
  4. Content. If you have written copy and photos ready, that saves significant time. If we're writing copy and sourcing images, that adds hours.
  5. SEO depth. Basic on-page SEO is included in every build. Ongoing SEO work - keyword research, content strategy, link building - is a separate ongoing service.

The four real price tiers

Tier 1 - $1,000 to $2,000: brochure website

This is the classic 3-6 page site for a local trade, accommodation business or small consultancy. Mobile-friendly, custom-designed (not a template), with a contact form, Google Maps and basic SEO. Often static (no CMS) for sites that rarely change, which keeps it fast and easy to maintain.

Best for: tradies, single-location businesses, simple service businesses where customers find you via Google search and call you.

Tier 2 - $2,000 to $3,500: business website

8-15 pages with multiple service sections, a portfolio or gallery, team profiles, location pages, advanced contact forms, blog setup, real on-page SEO and Google Business Profile setup. Custom design, fully responsive, with proper structured data so Google understands your business. Built-in CMS included.

Best for: established small businesses, professional services, multi-service operations, and anyone serious about being found locally.

This is where the bulk of our work lands. It's the size where a website starts paying back the investment within months.

Tier 3 - $3,500 to $5,000: advanced sites

15-30 pages with custom features. Booking systems, member areas, event registrations, multi-location setups, and sites with more complex business logic. Includes basic payment integration, training and extended handover.

Best for: established businesses, accommodation operators, event organisers, schools, clubs and not-for-profits with content workflows.

Tier 4 - $5,000 and up: fully custom

Custom-built applications, full ecommerce platforms, third-party API integrations, multi-region setups, large content collections, member portals, workflow automation. Quoted entirely on scope.

What about $500 websites?

You'll see them advertised constantly. Here's what's really going on:

  • It's a template used on hundreds of other sites. Your site looks like every other tradie's site.
  • You're locked in. The platform charges a monthly fee you can't avoid. Try to leave and you can't take the design with you.
  • Support is paid extra. That "free" website turns into $50-$100 per month in support, which is more than proper Australian hosting costs.
  • There's no real SEO. Generic templates with generic content don't rank. You'll be invisible in Google search.
  • There's no strategy. A $500 builder doesn't know your business or your customers. They just plug your details into a form.

A $500 website that doesn't bring in customers isn't a saving - it's a cost. A $2,000 site that brings in two customers a month for the next five years pays for itself in the first quarter.

Ongoing costs to factor in

The build is one-off. These are the running costs every site needs:

  • Hosting - from $30/month for proper Australian-based hosting with SSL, regular backups and support included.
  • Domain registration - about $25/year for a .com.au domain.
  • Email hosting - from $5/month per mailbox if you want professional you@yourbusiness.com.au emails (which you should).
  • Optional management plan - $60-$200/month covers content updates, security patches, SEO tweaks and tech support. Not mandatory, but worth it for most small businesses who'd rather focus on running their business than fiddling with their website.

Why we're 25-30% cheaper than most quotes

We're not the cheapest. We're not trying to be. But most clients tell us we're 25-30% cheaper than the city agencies they get quotes from - without compromising on quality.

That's because we're a small, local team based in Gippsland. We don't have layers of middle management, fancy Melbourne offices or six-figure account-manager salaries baked into our quotes. You're paying for the actual work, not the overhead.

We also don't outsource a single thing outside Australia - not the design, not the development, not the hosting, not the support. Every dollar you spend with us stays in Australia and supports a local Gippsland small business.

What to ask any web designer

Before you pay anyone for a website, ask:

  1. Who owns the website when it's built? (You should - content, design and code.)
  2. What ongoing fees are there? (Hosting, domain, email - that's it. Anything else, find out why.)
  3. Can I edit the content myself? (You should be able to, easily.)
  4. What happens if I want to leave? (Your content and design should be portable.)
  5. Will you still be around in 3 years? (If the answer is "we'll see," walk away.)
  6. Is the team Australian-based? (Worth checking - affects support timezone, communication, and where your money goes.)

Ready to get a real quote?

Every site is different. The fastest way to get a real number is a 15-minute conversation about your business, your customers and what you want the site to do.

Get in touch - no hard sell, no obligation. We'll send you a clear, fixed-price quote within a few days.
